All about acne treatments
Acne, also known as: cysts, pimples, boils, furuncles, blemishes, spots, zits, blackheads, or whiteheads, is an adolescent and adult skin condition that affects the face and body with visible abrasions, pimples and redness.
Acne is a skin condition that causes visible abrasions, pimples, and redness on the face and body in both adolescents and adults. Other names for acne include furuncles, spots, cysts, pimples, blackheads, boils, zits, blemishes, and whiteheads.
The first line of treatment for acne is to simply suppress the inflammation until the acne clears up on its own, which usually takes a year or two. Treatment options include creams, tablets, or pills that suppress hormones, such as a contraceptive pill or antibiotics (for females only). Severe acne, on the other hand, is defined as acne that is extremely scarring, or long-lasting, and requires stronger medication.
